Expert cavity wall insulation removal and refill

At Smart Solutions 365 Ltd, we remove outdated or damaged cavity wall insulation that causes dampness, mould, and cold spots in properties across Bristol. We extract loose or degraded materials such as UF foam using specialist equipment, ensuring that the cavities remain fully clear and dry. This process helps prevent moisture from spreading into internal walls and improves overall thermal performance. Each project is completed with care to restore comfort, reduce heat loss, and create a stable foundation for modern insulation upgrades.

Why replace failed cavity wall insulation?

Smart Solutions 365 Ltd install updated insulation materials once cavities are confirmed clean and dry, offering options such as mineral wool, polystyrene beads, and polyurethane foam for improved thermal control. Each solution is selected to reduce moisture risks, improve airflow resistance, and maintain consistent indoor temperatures. Spray foam removal is also carried out where required, ensuring roof and loft spaces are cleared before insulation upgrades. Costs typically range from £1,500 to £3,500, depending on the property size, with per-square-metre pricing available. Cavity wall insulation removal supports property protection, helping prevent long-term structural issues while improving energy efficiency and overall living conditions.

A step-by-step process for clean results

We begin with a detailed survey using inspection tools to identify the insulation type, hidden damage, and moisture levels within cavity walls. Access points are created carefully through mortar joints, allowing safe removal using high-pressure air and industrial vacuum systems. All debris is collected and disposed of securely, followed by a final inspection to confirm complete clearance. Mogford Prescott Ltd restores brickwork with colour-matched mortar to maintain its external appearance. You can even view our completed work in the gallery for reference.

Our process

01.

Preparation

All surfaces are thoroughly cleaned to remove dirt, mould, algae, and loose paint using power washing, brushing, scraping, or suitable mechanical methods. Where needed, a biocide treatment is applied to eliminate and prevent organic growth, especially in areas previously affected by moss or mould.

02.

Repair

Damaged or worn areas are carefully restored using appropriate materials to reinstate masonry, brickwork, or mortar. Cracks are repaired, and any deteriorated render is removed and replaced. Where required, brickwork can be refinished to improve appearance while maintaining its natural look.

03.

Masking

All surrounding areas, including doors, windows, paths, and landscaping, are fully protected before work begins. Protective coverings such as tape, sheeting, and dust sheets are used to prevent any damage or mess during the application process.

04.

Priming

A suitable masonry primer is applied where required to create a strong base for the coating. This helps improve adhesion, supports long-term durability, and enhances waterproofing performance, particularly on surfaces in poor or uneven condition.

05.

Application

The selected wall coating is applied using professional methods such as brush, roller, or spray equipment. Typically completed in two coats, this stage delivers a durable, breathable, and water-repellent finish that protects the surface and improves overall appearance.
